AWISHhellas is a nonprofit organization registered in Greece and in the United States (Washington State) for educational and charitable purposes. AWISH's objective is to promote understanding and education concerning matters relating to community sustainable development. The Corporation’s activities include:

Develop model programs, applied research, seminars, workshops and activities which demonstrate sustainable community development that promote a community’s social, economic and environmental well being, including activities that promote:

a) individual and community mental, physical and spiritual health, wellness and wellbeing,
b) community social-interaction,
c) community service,
d) social, economic and environmental justice,
e) community self determination,
f) environmental education and human and natural resources protection,
g) community energy sustainability and recycling,
h) biodiversity,
i) environmentally sound economic development,
j) cultural and architectural resources protection and enrichment, and
k) creative artistic expression and endeavors including fine and performing arts.

Facilitate communication among public government agencies and other non-government organizations that develop and promote environmentally sustainable communities which can be replicated by other communities.

Develop studies, projects and programs that foster sustainable economies in agriculture, natural resources, and tourist economies which can be integrated within environmentally sustainable community development models.

Provide technical assistance to facilitate the development of environmentally sustainable housing, agricultural, economic development, and community development projects. Such assistance will include aid in project design, strategic planning, program financing, social and environmental justice, and environmental impact assessments related to such models.

Serve as a resource of information and written material on matters as they relate to environmentally sustainable community development and individual and community wellness and wellbeing, and serve as a vehicle through which member organizations share relevant information.

Engage in public education activities designed to better inform the local, domestic and international community on matters relating to development of environmentally sustainable communities.

Develop and promote models of sustainable community development that integrate environmental education, social and economic development, and individual physical, mental and spiritual health and wellbeing.

Promote education and knowledge that advances awareness about sustainable development best practices through seminars, workshops, and collaborations with government, non-government organizations, and private businesses.

Promote programs through academic training, field studies and applied research projects and student internship programs that engage students in sustainable development education. Collaborate with domestic and international institutions of higher education to accomplish this objective.
